Roads Minister Gives Contractor Two-Month Deadline to Improve Progress on Have–Hohoe Road.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has issued a two-month ultimatum to Greenhouse Construction Company Limited to significantly improve work on the Have–Hohoe Road project or risk losing the contract.

During an inspection of the project in the Volta Region, the Minister criticised the contractor for falling behind schedule, noting that only about 13 percent of the work had been completed instead of the expected 20 percent.

Mr. Agbodza also expressed concern over poor dust control on the construction site, saying the contractor had failed to deploy enough water tankers to suppress dust despite being paid to do so.

Rejecting the contractor’s explanation that the rainy season had slowed progress, the Minister said the project has been under construction since 2012 and has benefited from revised contract rates and government payments under the Big Push programme.

He described the Have–Hohoe Road as a critical link in Ghana’s trunk road network and warned that if the contractor fails to achieve at least 20 percent progress within the next two months, the Ministry will consider bringing in another contractor to complete the project.
