‘Service to Mankind Is Service to Allah’ – Alhaji Seidu Agongo Donates GH¢1.45 Million in Relief to Accra Flood Victims.

Businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo has donated relief items worth GH¢1.45 million to victims of the devastating June floods in parts of Accra, providing much-needed support to hundreds of affected families.

The relief exercise benefited residents of Mamobi, Nima (Beline Bridge), Alajo Assemblies of God, Alajo Central, Alajo North, Quay Mensah, and Kaneshie Station.

The donation included bags of premium rice, cartons of canned tomatoes, tins of milk, and bales of cloth aimed at helping families rebuild their lives after losing homes and livelihoods to the floods.

Speaking during the presentation at Mamobi, Alhaji Agongo said the gesture was driven by compassion and his faith, stressing that society has a collective responsibility to support people in times of crisis.

“As a Muslim, my faith teaches me that service to mankind is service to Allah. Giving is not a choice; it is a duty.”

He urged the private sector to complement government efforts in responding to disasters, saying the burden of caring for flood victims should not rest solely on the state.

“We rise together, or we do not rise at all,” he said, encouraging business leaders to extend support to vulnerable communities whenever the need arises.

Alhaji Agongo also called on government and relevant agencies to intensify enforcement of environmental regulations, including laws against indiscriminate waste disposal and illegal construction on waterways, while prioritising regular desilting of drains to reduce the country’s recurring flood disasters.

He noted that although stricter enforcement may be unpopular initially, decisive leadership is needed to find lasting solutions to Ghana’s perennial flooding challenges.

The philanthropist further appealed for a non-partisan approach to tackling flooding, emphasizing that natural disasters affect everyone regardless of political affiliation.

The latest donation adds to Alhaji Agongo’s long record of philanthropy, which includes support for education, healthcare, and other humanitarian causes across Ghana.
