The Damela Foundation has made a landmark donation to the Tamale Children’s home as part of efforts to restore hope and dream of young ones abandoned by parents.
In the heart of the Tamale metropolis, the Tamale Children’s home located at Dwanhene remains one of the many orphanages with less care and attention.
Without walls and protection.
The Children’s home has become avenue where stray animals and strangers have access to at will.
The Damela Foundation has since made a landmark donation to the orphanage assuring of support to bring respite to care givers and the children.
A donation led by the founder, Mr. Dayan Ayivi brought smiles to the over fifty children in the home on Monday, September 7, 2026.
At the heart of the presentation was a 3 – months-old baby who was brought into the house by the Department of Social Welfare.
Acting supervisor of the Tamale Children’s home, Saratu Selemana indicated that there are ten (10) of such infants under their care.
“For the children who ages from 3-months to less than one year, we have ten of them and we have been feeding them with lactogens” she said.
She further called on the Damela Foundation and other philanthropic groups to come to their aid especially in securing the land boundaries of the orphanage as stray animals invade the home.
“Our major Challenge is the wall. Since there is not fence wall, you see goats, dogs, cattle and other even strangers coming here anytime and that is very dangerous to the children. We need help to do the fence wall to protect our children” she appealed.
Established in 1968, the Tamale children’s home currently has less than one hundred (100) children many of whom are infants.
Meanwhile Chief Executive Officers of the Damela Foundation, Mr. Dayan Ayivi said though such developments are heartbreaking; his outfit will do its part in touching and saving the lives of such vulnerable children.
“Touching the life of the young ones, the children, the orphans, the needy, it gives me joy. That is what I love and I’ll keep doing it” Mr. Ayivi intimated
He said the vision of the foundation is to touch as many lives as possible both domestically and globally.
“I do this during Easter, on my birthday and in December. In December, I am planning to bring in medical doctors and some nurses, after giving out these items, then they get screened” and “maybe we’re a transcontinental Damela foundation” he emphasized.
The items presented included; bags of rice, boxes of tin tomatoes, bags of maize, detergents, diapers, sanitary towels, canned foods, stationaries, towel papers, toiletries, gallons of cooking oil, bags of sachet water, assorted drinks among others.
