Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has arrived in the United States to participate in the 2025 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, a flagship global forum organized by the World Food Prize Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa.
The four-day event, scheduled for October 21–24, 2025, brings together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and development partners to discuss strategies for strengthening global food security.
Ghana’s participation underscores the government’s commitment to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems.
During the forum, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang will deliver a keynote address highlighting Ghana’s progress in food security, sustainable agriculture, and inclusive agribusiness.
She will also engage in bilateral meetings with development partners to explore collaborations in agricultural innovation, technology transfer, and climate-smart farming.
At the 2025 Global Gateway Forum held earlier this year, the Vice President reaffirmed Ghana’s determination to transition from exporting raw cocoa beans to developing a value-driven cocoa economy that empowers farmers and creates jobs.
She urged the European Union’s Sustainable Cocoa Initiative to deepen collaboration with Ghana to promote investment in the cocoa sector, improve farmer livelihoods, and advance structured farming models that integrate investment, affordable credit, risk-sharing, and technical support.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang’s participation in the Borlaug Dialogue reinforces Ghana’s leadership in advancing global food security, while strengthening national efforts to empower farmers, promote rural development, and drive sustainable agricultural transformation.
