Youth losing confidence in Ghana’s democracy, a ‘timing bomb’ – Mahama warns

Former President John Mahama is calling for immediate steps to restore confidence in the Ghana’s democracy to avert any possible unrest

 

John Mahama said recent happenings in Kenya and Nigeria should serve as early warning signs to politicians.

 

In his opinion, the pent up anger is nearing a saturation point and the youth may no longer be able to hold on, if there is no sign of hope.

 

He cites, deception, deliberate neglect of some regions by government, president Akufo Addo’s open confession of biases another others as alien to the tenets of modern day democracy.

 

“The current happenings are detrimental to the tenets of Ghana’s democracy. It is contrary to the principles of democracy which seeks development of all which have been followed through from the Rawlings era up until Akufo Addo -Bawumia took office” he lamented

 

He added the “youth are left out and are livid because of the deception by government is too much”

 

Mr Mahama who is on a campaign tour of the Bono region called for a change in the paradigm shift to reset Ghana for the better
