The Upper East Regional Police Command has apprehended 14 individuals suspected of cultivating and distributing narcotic drugs at Daliga in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The arrests were made on 16th August 2026 following an intelligence-led operation carried out jointly by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) and the newly established Black Cobra Team.
Those taken into custody include Alex Nyaaba, Charles Keleg Dombil, Zimi Pandam, Jennifer Ziini, Tobirr Naab, Yinteng James, Tosil Wandabil, Sandanane Peehim, Borimi Nohoo, Curim Teng, Curim Kugri,Curim Nabdok,Nohou Dagobila, and Abane Zangbeog.
During the operation, officers uncovered a substantial quantity of suspected narcotic substances hidden inside sacks of millet and maize. Early findings from the investigation suggest that the suspected Indian hemp was deliberately grown alongside the millet and maize crops as a way of disguising the plantations and avoiding detection.
Investigators also believe the suspects served as key suppliers to a wider network of drug peddlers operating throughout the region.
All suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in court to answer to the charges against them.
