Jackie Appiah and Red Carpet earn multiple nods at 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards

Ghanaian star Jackie Appiah has once again captured the spotlight, earning a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for her performance in the movie Red Carpet.

 

Appiah’s remarkable career has seen her win the AMAA Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2010 for The Perfect Picture and Best Supporting Actress in 2007. She has also earned numerous accolades including Best Actress at the 2010 Africa Magic viewers choice Awards, Ghana Movie Awards, and Pan African Actress of the Year at the 2011 Nigerian Entertainment Awards, among others.

In addition to Appiah’s nomination, Red Carpet received recognition in the Achievement in Soundtrack category, with Bernie Anti securing the nomination for his work on the film’s score.

 

Produced by Samis Media, owned by celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker and multiple award-winning costumer Samira Yakubu, Red Carpet boasts a stellar cast including Kalsoume Sinare, Grace Omaboe, Oscar Provencal, Deyemi Okanlawon and Juliet Ibrahim. The film also features notable stars such as Selly Ghally, Roseline Ngissah, Adjetey Annang, Abeiku Santana, and Beverly Afaglo, among others. Directed by Frank Rajah Arase.

As the African Film Academy celebrates its 20th anniversary, key events include the AMAA gala night on November 2, 2024. The nomination announcement ceremony, hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.

 

Jackie Appiah’s nomination is another testament to her enduring impact on African cinema, reinforcing her status as one of Ghana’s most celebrated actresses.
