Ghana Free Zones Authority trains staff on CPR

As part of their activities to mark Customer Service Week 2026, themed “The Extra Mile,” the Ghana Free Zones Authority has organised a practical training session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for its staff.

The training also aimed at Basic Life Support for staff of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) on Friday, 9 October 2026.

The session, facilitated by a team from the International Maritime Hospital (IMAH), was led by Dr. Barbara Ayesha Karbo.

According to the CEO of GFZA, Dr Mary Awusi, the training equipped staff with essential skills to respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies.

“I commend the IMAH team for sharing their expertise and helping us build a workforce that is better prepared to respond when lives are at risk,” Dr Awusi said in a statement.

“I believe that life-saving skills are essential not only in the workplace but also in our homes and communities.”

She emphasised that at GFZA, going the extra mile means more than delivering excellent service but also means promoting preparedness, compassion and a culture of care where every life matters.

She concluded that “Sometimes, going the extra mile means taking the right action to save a life.”
