The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has stormed the premises of Jamila Homes following an alleged assault on members of its enforcement team during a VAT compliance and enforcement exercise.
Speaking to the media, the Accra Central Re-enforcement Manager, Joseph Annan, said the GRA officials were carrying out their duties when they were allegedly assaulted by some workers of the company.
He explained that upon the team’s arrival at the premises, some workers resisted the enforcement exercise, resulting in a confrontation before calm was eventually restored.
Mr. Annan cautioned members of the public against attacking or obstructing GRA officials while they are performing their lawful duties.
He warned that assaulting GRA personnel amounts to an attack on the authority and said the Service would respond firmly to such incidents.
“We will come at perpetrators with equal measures,” he warned.
Following the incident, the GRA team invited one of the managers of Jamila Homes to provide a statement as part of investigations into the alleged assault.
Meanwhile, the Economic Adviser to Jamila Homes, Hilarious McCash, who oversees the affairs of the company, has apologised for his conduct during the incident.
He urged the GRA team to exercise patience and understanding in handling similar situations, while acknowledging the need for cooperation during enforcement exercises.
