‘Wicked’ NPP should not taste power anytime soon – Asiedu Nketiah

The NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged Ghanaians to trust the incoming John Mahama government to serve them adequately.

Although he said the outgoing NPP led by Nana Akufo-Addo has created unprecedented mess in the country, the incoming NDC is poised to work in the interest of the masses.

The NDC leader who is on a ‘thank you tour’ of his home region –Bono– has been talking about the need to retain NDC in power for a long time to rebuild what the outgoing Government, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia have collapsed.

Appreciating the people for voting convincingly for the NDC Presidential candidate, HE John Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidates, Asiedu Nketiah said the people of Bono do not need to go back to the NPP since the party did not prioritize their needs while in power.

Addressing a crowd at Sunyani, the capital of Bono, the NDC leader emphasized that the appreciation of the NDC’s votes in the region during the recent elections indicates the people have been enlightened and need proper representation in government.

“Before 2020 elections, we had only one out of twelve seats in Parliament. When I became the National Chairman, we increased our seats to 6.

“Through our collective hard work, we won 11 seats out of the 12 in the entire region. And for the first time, we won the two Sunyani seats which had been occupied by the NPP for many years,” he said while appreciating the efforts of the people.

To him, since the NPP MPs, Amewu Cheremeh of Sunyani East and Ignatius Baffour Awuah of Sunyani West took the people for granted for many years, the NPP needs not be tolerated by the people in future elections.

“We have to take hold of these seats for a very long time because the NPP and the elephant do not think about your progress,” Asiedu chastised.

“That is the reason we killed (defeated) the elephant nationwide and had to come and slaughter it here in Sunyani (by winning their traditional seats)” he mocked.

Asiedu Nketiah’s tour also took him to Berekum East and West constituencies which hitherto were traditional seats for the NPP.

He also met the chiefs and people of Tain, his home constituency on Saturday.

He is expected to visit the remaining 7 constituencies within the weekend.

Mr Asiedu was accompanied by former Ashanti Regional Minister and National Vice Chairman, Dr Samuel Sarpong, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ambassador Nyamekye Marfo, former MP for Akwatia, Baba Jamal and a host of regional and constituency executives.
