Chief Imam visits BOST to congratulate newly appointed CEO

The National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, visited the Head Office of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) in Accra on Monday, January 27, 2025 to congratulate the newly appointed Managing Director of BOST, Mr. Afetsi Awoonor.

Mr. Awoonor, the youngest CEO in BOST’s history, was commended by the Chief Imam for his appointment.

The visit also carried a personal significance, as the Chief Imam shared a longstanding friendship with the late Professor Kofi Awoonor, Mr. Awoonor’s father.

In his address, Dr.  Sharubutu acknowledged the confidence reposed in Mr. Awoonor by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, who made the appointment.

He described the role as both a significant responsibility and an opportunity to serve Ghanaians in a critical sector of the economy.

The Chief Imam encouraged Mr. Awoonor to approach his leadership with integrity, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, while urging the management team to work collaboratively to meet the expectations of the public.

The Chief Imam further prayed for divine guidance and success for the new CEO and his team as they embark on this leadership journey.

Mr. Awoonor, who brings extensive industry experience to his new role, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to steer BOST towards achieving its strategic goals.

He emphasized his commitment to innovation and efficient management to enhance the company’s contribution to Ghana’s energy sector.

The visit, which concluded with a prayer session led by the Chief Imam, underscored the symbolic relationship between leadership and mentorship. It also highlighted the broader significance of national unity and collaboration in advancing Ghana’s development agenda.
