Biakoye Member of Parliament Hon. Jean-Marie Formadi is urging Ghanaian women to pursue leadership positions without fear, in a strong call for greater female representation in politics.
Speaking to XYZ News, the MP popularly known as “Lady JM” encouraged women to contest positions at every level, from Unit Committee and Assembly Member seats to roles as Municipal or District Chief Executive (MCE/DCE), Member of Parliament, and party executive positions at the branch, constituency, regional and national levels.
Hon. Formadi dismissed the common claim that women become arrogant or disrespectful once they attain power, describing it as untrue.
She pointed to her own record as an MP as evidence that women can lead with focus, positivity and excellence, and called on men to create space for women to demonstrate their leadership capabilities.
The MP also highlighted ongoing development work in the Biakoye District, carried out in collaboration with the District Chief Executive. Under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, she said, significant progress is being made through the District Assemblies Common Fund to complete critical infrastructure.
Recent projects include CHPS compounds, classroom blocks and dormitories.
To ease the hardships faced by students who cross the Volta River daily, construction has begun on a six-unit classroom block and a kindergarten centre. Water projects are also underway with the aim of reaching every rural community in the district.
