President Mahama’s X account hacked

The Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama’s official X account (@JDMahama) has been hacked.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Kwakye Ofosu stated that unauthorized individuals had compromised the account but assured the public that recovery efforts were underway.

“Yes, the account has been hacked. Some unscrupulous individuals have taken control, but steps are being taken to restore access, and we expect it to be recovered soon,” he said.

The breach was discovered on Sunday when the President’s X account was used to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme linked to “Solanafrica.” The scam falsely claimed to be an initiative led by Mahama to enable free payments across Africa using the Solana blockchain. Shortly after, the token was rug-pulled, causing financial losses for investors.

Although the suspicious post has been deleted, the compromised account continues to share crypto-related content, suggesting the launch of another memecoin.

Authorities are working to regain control of the account and prevent further misuse. Meanwhile, the public is advised to ignore any suspicious posts until full recovery is achieved.
