The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers from the Western Central Regional Police Command in recognition of their diligence, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
The promoted officers are:
- No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, now promoted to Inspector
- No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare, now promoted to Sergeant
- No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, now promoted to Sergeant
- No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu, now promoted to Lance Corporal
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers.
The IGP emphasized that the promotions are intended to motivate personnel across the Service and reaffirm the commitment to recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance.
The promotions stem from a major operation following the murder of five individuals at Asiyaw, near Nsawam, on 29 April 2025.
Just a day later, on 30 April, the Western Central Regional Police Command arrested three suspects Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition at Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong in the Western Region.
The suspects were intercepted while travelling aboard a Grand Bird bus (registration number AS 4431-22) en route to Wassa Akropong.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a submachine gun (SMG) and 21 rounds of ammunition from suspect Hakeem Imoro.
During interrogation, Imoro disclosed that his boss, Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, who was already in custody in connection with the Asiyaw murders, had given the weapon to him.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that the three suspects were directly linked to the Asiyaw case and were attempting to evade arrest when the vigilant officers intercepted them.
The Ghana Police Service has commended the officers for their outstanding work and reiterated its commitment to rewarding excellence and fostering a culture of dedication in the fight against crime.
