The Technical Advisor to the GRA Commissioner General, Elsie Appau-Klu Esq, has urged Ghanaians to be tax compliant in order to accelerate developmental projects across the country.
Her advise comes after the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) launched various programmes to push for higher voluntary tax compliance to fund national infrastructure projects that all Ghanaians will benefit from.
Addressing residents of the Volta Region during President John Mahama’s ‘Resetting Ghana Tour’, Madam Appau-Klu stated that citizens’ tax contributions directly drive the country’s development.
“Every pesewa counts when it turns into projects that change lives,” Appau-Klu explained.
She said tax revenues serve as the primary source for national growth.
The GRA has already noted that these funds directly finance roads, schools, hospitals, and water systems while Security services and public utilities also rely on this steady revenue stream.
The state relies heavily on citizen compliance as Ghana targets sustainable economic growth in 2026.
Officials state that broad tax participation expands job creation and public services.
The GRA has increased its public education campaigns for businesses and individuals, aiming to build public trust by linking tax collection to visible community upgrades.
Appau-Klu emphasized that paying taxes is a civic duty rather than just a legal requirement. The tour focused on balancing state transparency with civic responsibility to fund health, education, and agriculture.
“Know your taxes. Pay your taxes. Let us build Ghana together. Ghana First,” Appau-Klu concluded.
