Elmina fishermen applaud john mahama for reducing cost of fishing equipment

Fishermen at Elmina have commended former President John Dramani Mahama for what they describe as a significant reduction in the cost of fishing equipment during his tenure.

In an interview with XYZ reporter Kofi Abrantie, the fishermen stated that under President Mahama’s leadership, essential fishing tools such as nets, outboard motors, and other accessories were more affordable and accessible compared to current conditions.

They noted that the lower cost of equipment at the time enabled many fisherfolk to sustain their trade and improve their livelihoods.

The fishermen are therefore appealing for the reintroduction of policies that would restore such economic relief to the fishing community.

The commendation comes amid growing concern in the sector over rising operational costs and declining government support.

Joining us on the phone is Mr. John Mensah, an executive member of the local fishermen’s association, to share further insights.
