Ghana has achieved a new milestone in regional parliamentary diplomacy.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has announced that Ghana’s Parliament has been officially admitted into the Francophone Parliament.
Addressing the House, Speaker Bagbin described the admission as a significant step forward, deepening Ghana’s ties with French-speaking nations and strengthening its role in regional integration efforts.
The Francophone Parliament, formally known as the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) is an inter-parliamentary organization that promotes dialogue, cooperation, and democratic development among member countries that share the French language and values.
“We are proud to announce that Ghana has been admitted to the Francophone Parliament. This will open new doors for parliamentary diplomacy, collaboration, and shared learning,” the Speaker said.
The move is expected to enhance Ghana’s legislative influence in the West African sub-region and beyond, creating more opportunities for exchange in governance, policy, and cultural development.
This development underscores Ghana’s commitment to regional unity and international cooperation.
Parliament is expected to leverage this new platform to advance national interests and contribute meaningfully to broader continental objectives.
