The nation mourned anew as Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, and Alhaji Limuna Muhammed Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, were laid to rest in a solemn military burial ceremony at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra.

The Islamic janāza prayers, led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, were held at the forecourt of Jubilee House, with the grieving ceremony drawing top officials including President John Dramani Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonney, and numerous political and religious dignitaries.

Pallbearers from the Ghana Armed Forces escorted the deceased to their final resting place, with uniformed honor and large public attendance marking the tragic loss.

A critical step toward closure was achieved with the arrival of forensic results from South Africa, enabling the formal identification of all eight victims of the 6 August crash, the two already laid to rest today and the remaining six awaiting funerals

President Mahama, addressing the gathering, explained that the forensic identifications were completed just one day prior:

“We received electronically the forensic results … that is why we are able to do this today.”

Looking ahead, the President announced plans for a state funeral to honor all eight victims at Black Star Square in Accra on 15 August 2025, in consultation with their families.
