Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Monday, August 18, 2025, met with the leadership of the Ghana Prisons Service, led by Director General Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, to discuss challenges facing the Service and explore ways to address them.
The Vice President stressed the importance of strong public education on prison reforms and urged closer collaboration between the Prisons Service, other state institutions, and the media.
She also commended the Service for its interventions, particularly its growing agricultural campaign, describing it as a promising initiative.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured the leadership of government’s commitment to improving conditions within the Prisons Service.
“As a responsible nation, it is our duty to ensure dignified conditions for inmates, to offer meaningful reforms, and to provide the necessary support for their reintegration into society,” she said.
