Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has clarified that his handshake with Ralph St. Williams has no bearing on the ongoing investigations into the Ridge Hospital incident.
Addressing a press briefing at the Ministry’s conference room, the Minister emphasized that the gesture should not be misconstrued as an attempt to influence or obstruct the work of the committee of enquiry.
He reiterated that the Ministry remains focused on its mandate despite challenges. “We have a heavy workload to execute, and while issues may arise, our focus remains on delivering results that will positively impact the health sector,” he said.
Responding to criticism from the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mr. Akandoh remarked: “I know I am a farmer, and I am proud to be one. There is no need to remind me.”
The Minister further appealed to health workers and the general public to embrace dialogue and effective communication as the best tools to ease tensions and maintain calm while investigations continue.
