The Ghana Police Service has announced temporary road closures and diversions in Accra on Saturday, September 6, 2025, to make way for the Millennium Marathon.

Several key roads will be affected by the temporary closure, including Atta Mills High Street towards Osu, Liberation Road from the 37 intersections to the Central Business District, Independence Avenue at the National Theatre traffic light, La Beach Road, Oxford Street, Cantonments Road, and Jawaharlal Nehru Road.

To ease movement, diversions have been provided.

Motorists from Liberation Road are advised to use the Kaokudi road through Kanda Highway and connect to Barnes Road to the CBD, or alternatively use Giffard Road to Osu.

Those on Atta Mills Highway should take Liberia Road and Barnes Road to the 37 intersection before continuing to Osu and La.

Drivers on Giffard Street are directed to use the 37 intersection through Kaokudi to Dr. Hilla Limann High Street for access to the CBD.

Police further reminded the public to plan alternative routes ahead of their journeys, stressing that no vehicle will be allowed to park along the affected roads.

Traffic police officers will be deployed at key points to guide and assist motorists during the event.
