The highly anticipated super middleweight showdown between two undisputed champions, Saul “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford, finally lived up to its billing at the iconic Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
A record crowd of 70,486 fans packed the arena to witness the bout Crawford had long pursued, and the Omaha, Nebraska native did not disappoint.
Entering the ring as the underdog, Crawford outclassed Canelo with speed, rhythm, and tactical brilliance, ultimately earning a unanimous decision victory.
According to Ring Magazine journalists and boxing analysts, Crawford convincingly won nine rounds, ceding only three to the bigger Mexican star.
He took the first four rounds, despite fierce exchanges, while Canelo rallied to claim the fifth with his trademark power shots and body punches that drew loud cheers from his supporters.
From the sixth round onwards, however, Crawford seized control. Realizing Canelo could not hurt him, he dictated the pace with blistering hand speed and precise counterpunching.
He went on to secure rounds six, seven, nine, eleven, and twelve, sealing his dominance and extending his unbeaten record to 42-0.
The contest was more than just a clash of power versus speed. Crawford’s creativity, footwork, and relentless counterattacks neutralized Canelo’s aggression.
All three judges scored the fight in Crawford’s favor: 116–112, 115–113, 115–113, crowning him the unified super middleweight champion of the world.
In his post-fight interview, Crawford dedicated the victory to God.
“I have been underrated for a long time in this sport. Many accused me of not fighting the best, but I believe tonight’s win puts me in my rightful place,” he said. “I’ll take some rest and sit with my team to decide what’s next.”
With this historic win over Canelo, Terence Crawford cements his legacy as the defining fighter of his generation.
