Black Stars thrash Central African Republic 5-0 in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier

Ghana delivered an outstanding 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Stade d’Honneur in Meknes, Morocco, on Wednesday. Coach Otto Addo fielded a formidable lineup, with Benjamin Asare, Mohammed Salisu, Caleb Yirenkyi, Gideon Mensah, and Alexander Djiku forming the defense. Kwasi Sibo and Thomas Partey anchored the midfield, while Mohammed Kudus supported the attacking trio of Antoine Semenyo, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars dominated from the opening whistle. Mohammed Salisu opened the scoring in the 20th minute, heading in a corner from Mohammed Kudus. After the break, Thomas Partey doubled the lead in the 52nd minute with a stunning strike assisted by Jordan Ayew. Alexander Djiku added a third goal in the 69th minute, followed by Jordan Ayew’s fourth in the 71st minute. Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed the 5-0 rout in the 87th minute, assisted by Joseph Paintsil.

This emphatic win strengthens Ghana’s position at the top of Group I with 22 points, three points ahead of second-placed Madagascar, boosting their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the USA. Ghana will conclude their qualifiers against Comoros at Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
