Ghana Gold Board opens applications for jewellery & fabrication and refinery licenses

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for Jewellery and Fabrication Licences (Categories A, B, and C) as well as Refinery Licences, effective Tuesday, 22nd October 2025.

This initiative forms part of GoldBod’s broader mandate to formalise downstream gold value addition, enhance regulatory compliance, and promote sustainable industry growth in line with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).

GoldBod reminds the general public that only duly licensed persons are authorised to engage in gold trading, jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication, and gold refining in Ghana.

Engaging in these activities without a valid GoldBod licence constitutes an offence punishable under Act 1140.

All existing licences previously issued by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources for gold refining, fabrication, and related operations are no longer valid under the current legal framework.

Accordingly, all existing jewellery manufacturers, fabricators, and gold refineries are required to regularise their operations by applying for and obtaining a GoldBod licence under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140) by 31st December 2025.

Operating a gold refinery, jewellery manufacturing, or gold fabrication business after this non-extendable deadline without a valid GoldBod licence will constitute a criminal offence.

Please note that manual or in-person submissions will not be accepted. Applicants are advised to carefully review all eligibility requirements, documentation checklists, and applicable fee schedules published on the GoldBod website before submission.
