Ghana and India have set an ambitious target of doubling their current trade volume to US$6 billion, reflecting the growing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed this while receiving the letters of credence from the new Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Surinder Bhagat.
According to the Minister, Ghana and India have identified agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), and pharmaceutical manufacturing as priority sectors for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
Mr Ablakwa said strengthening collaboration in these strategic areas will help create employment opportunities for Ghana’s youth, promote industrial growth, and position the country’s economy on a stronger path towards sustainable development within Africa.
The renewed commitment underscores the longstanding partnership between Ghana and India and their shared determination to expand trade, investment and economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
