The Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in charge of Enforcement, Control, and Elimination, Mr. Alexander Twum-Barimah, has admonished staff stationed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to uphold professional and ethical standards in the performance of their duties.
According to him, officers assigned to various tasks are required to adhere strictly to the ethical principles that guide all NACOC personnel across the country, devoid of any acts that could impugn the reputation of the Commission.
Mr. Twum-Barimah made these remarks at the closing ceremony of a five-day capacity-building programme organised by NACOC in partnership with the French Embassy at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday, October 24, 2025.
He commended the partners and donors of the training programme, namely the Mission Interministérielle de Lutte contre la Drogue et les Conduites Addictives (MILD & CA), the International Security Cooperation Directorate (DCIS), and the Office Anti-Stupéfiants (OFAST).
The training provided participants, drawn from NACOC and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority at KIA, with enhanced skills in passenger profiling, inspection, and control, among other operational areas.
The Deputy Director-General further urged participants to refrain from any conduct that could compromise their integrity and professionalism as officers of the Commission.
“Any officer found culpable of engaging in acts that seek to taint or tarnish the reputation of the Commission will not be spared. It is, therefore, incumbent on all officers to avoid such slippery grounds of aiding and abetting offences prohibited by law,” he cautioned.
Mr. Twum-Barimah congratulated the participants for their commitment to successfully completing the course, which focused on “Profiling, Targeting, and Combating Drug Trafficking in the Airport Area.”
The Director of Operations and Enforcement at NACOC, CNCO (Rtd.) Solomon Stanley Eyo, also lauded the donors and partners for supporting the initiative and reinforcing the Commission’s enforcement capacity at Ghana’s main international gateway.
