The CEO of the GTA, Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, revealed these plans during the opening of the 2026 Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival at Odweanoma Mountain.
“We are poised to promote domestic tourism and want to spread the paragliding festival to other areas,” Houadjeto stated.
“We are hoping to celebrate two paragliding festivals in Ghana every year: one in Kwahu and another in Adaklu.”
If the technical evaluations are successful, the GTA plans to launch the Adaklu site as early as 2027.
This expansion is expected to transform the local economy by attracting adrenaline seekers and international tourists, creating jobs within the hospitality and service sectors in the Adaklu enclave, and showcasing unique landscapes through low-impact aerial tourism.
The Adaklu expansion is part of a broader strategy which Mrs. Houadjeto has described as “360 Tourism.”
The initiative seeks to ensure that domestic tourism is promoted consistently every month of the year, rather than relying solely on seasonal peaks like Easter or Christmas.
To support this year-round vision, the GTA is set to introduce a specialized tour guide program targeting graduates.
These graduates, according to her, will be recruited and trained as official guides to tell the stories of Ghana’s diverse heritage sites.
In a significant move to boost mobility, the GTA plans to provide vehicles to these guides, enabling them to reach remote sites and facilitate tours more effectively.
By combining infrastructure development in Adaklu with youth-led storytelling, the GTA remains committed to making Ghana a leading destination for both domestic and international travelers
