There is growing tension at the National Lottery Authority (NLA) over the academic credentials of the Director of Finance, Martin Kwadwo Amaniampong.
His qualification for that top job at NLA has raised eyebrows.
Amaniampong was among four top officials of the Presbyterian University College (PUC) who were suspended indefinitely in 2014 for alleged financial malpractices and mismanagement.
He was at the time the Director of Finance at the institution.
At NLA, Amaniampong was first appointed as a Deputy General Manager at a job grade of M4 Step 7 at a time when there was no such position as a Deputy General Manager.
The Public Services Commission requires one to have served as a Deputy Director for a minimum of 5 years before being appointed into a substantive Director position, but it is alleged that “for some strange reason, he was quickly presented to the PSC for confirmation by the previous administration despite not being eligible for the position just a few months before the 2024 general elections.”
Some staff say Amaniampong does not qualify to occupy that position because he did not rise through the ranks to merit a director in the state institution.
Myxyzonline.com, sources allege that Amaniampong was “imposed” on them by the former Director-General of the NLA, Sammi Awuku.
The possession of a Chartered Accountant certificate is a basic requirement for the position of a Finance Director in such an important State Owned Enterprise, however Mr Amaniampong does not have one, sources at NLA disclosed.
Some of the agitating workers believe the move was to ensure that all the outstanding payments of the NLA such as the 2024 GHc 9 million Christmas package would be pushed through.
When issues of his credentials popped up, reports indicate the representatives from the Public Services Commission (PSC) confirmed that he had to acquire certain certifications before being confirmed in the role.
Deep throat sources indicate that for some strange reasons, Amaniampong was confirmed without acquiring or submitting those certifications under the previous NPP administration.
To him, one of the workers who occupy a top office at the NLA is worried that Amaniampong’s dismissal from the Presbyterian University for alleged corruption remains an issue that has to be resolved and should not be heading an important high office at the NLA.
Myxyzonline.com is seeking comments from the current administration of the NLA on these allegations since if proven Amaniampong will remain a danger to the Authority.
