A high-level delegation from Namibia’s Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has paid a working visit to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) on a benchmarking and consultation mission aimed at studying Ghana’s gold trading and regulatory framework.
The Namibian team was received by GoldBod’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Richard Nunekpeku, Esq., who outlined the institution’s mandate and operational systems. Discussions focused on critical areas including licensing and regulation, gold purchasing and sales, responsible mining and sustainability practices, financial management, foreign exchange generation, as well as compliance and enforcement mechanisms.

Officials from the Namibian side described the GoldBod model as a robust and effective framework from which valuable lessons can be drawn as Namibia seeks to enhance standardisation and efficiency across its mining sector.
The engagement also served as a platform for mutual knowledge exchange and the strengthening of institutional cooperation between Ghana and Namibia.
