The National School Feeding Programme (NSFP) has launched a strategic engagement with Municipal and District Education Directorates across the Volta and Oti regions to strengthen nutritional standards and operational oversight of student meals.
Led by National Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor, the initiative seeks to deepen collaboration between the NSFP and local education authorities so that pupils receive high-quality, nutritious meals. In a briefing with XYZ News and Ibrahim Nsor, Hajia Forgor stated that the per-student allocation has risen from GH¢1.50 under the previous administration to GH¢2.00 under the current government, with further increases under consideration.

While recognising the considerable efforts of caterers nationwide, Forgor stressed the need for rigorous annual monitoring to close existing gaps in service delivery. She emphasised that the programme’s success depends heavily on District, Municipal and Metropolitan Directorates providing effective local oversight and accountability.
Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu described the school feeding initiative as a sensitive social intervention. He urged education directors and coordinators to enforce strict monitoring protocols to ensure caterers meet nutritional standards. Hon.
Gunu added that while the Presidency sets the national resetting agenda, the country’s successful transformation rests on the strong performance of officials, coordinators and managers within their respective institutions.

Mrs Marian Jemima Akua Adzroe, Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), echoed the call for closer collaboration. She noted that past weaknesses in coordination had affected meal quality.
Mrs Adzroe affirmed the GES’s commitment to supplying accurate field data and called on all local directors to intensify monitoring so that the NSFP’s new collaborative framework delivers tangible benefits for students.
