The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi says the maiden Eastern Expo 2026 provides a significant platform to showcase the region’s economic potential and attract investment into key sectors of the regional economy.
Hon. Ahi made the remarks when he represented the Minister for Trade Agribusines and Industry Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare Agribusiness and Industry as Special Guest of Honour at the Expo held in Koforidua on Monday 28th September, 2026 in Koforidua.
Speaking on the theme, “Eastern EXPO 2026: Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment.”
Hon. Ahi reflected the region’s readiness to move beyond showcasing its resources to deliberately converting its economic potential into revenue, jobs and improved livelihoods for its people.
He further pointed to the region’s growing investment potential, citing data indicating that between 1994 and December 2025, the Eastern Region attracted 44 wholly Ghanaian-owned projects valued at over US$1.9 billion, in addition to 164 foreign-backed projects across agriculture, manufacturing, services, tourism and trade.
Stakeholders called for prospective investors to put their plans in place and invest in the Eastern Region for mutual investment returns.
