Annoh-Dompreh must be arrested for inciting violence – NDC’s Siddique Abubakar

A member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Siddique Abubakar Suleiman has called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, for inciting violence in the country.

Suleiman believes the comment of Annoh-Dompreh who is also the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament can cause a post-election chaos in the country.

The MP is on record to have called on supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ablekuma North to stand by their fellow party members in confrontations with members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing a gathering of party supporters during a visit by the NPP caucus leadership to Ablekuma North, Annoh-Dompreh stated: “If indeed you are a member of the NPP and you go to meet your fellow party member fighting a member of the NDC, join your party member to beat the NDC member.”

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP accused the NDC of deliberately obstructing the Electoral Commission (EC) from completing the collation process and warned that the NPP would not tolerate further delays.

His comment has been widely condemned by many political actors, including Abubakar Siddique.

Speaking on Inside Politics programme on TV XYZ on Thursday, the political activist stated that Annoh-Dompreh’s comment was unparliamentary, urging the Police to pick him up for interrogation.

“The genocide that resulted in the killings of hundreds of thousands in Rwanda was sparked by similar comments. What the MP said can spark violence in the country,” Suleiman noted.

“What he has done is to create fear and panic in the country. We are pleading with the Inspector General of Police to arrest Annoh-Dompreh. I believe there’s something wrong with him. Whatever it is, he should be arrested,” he said.

“He should be invited by now, what is the IGP waiting for?”

He called on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, to punish Annoh-Dompreh for his “misconduct”.

“I think the Speaker of Parliament should suspend Annor Dompreh,” he appealed while condemning the MP.
