Ban all NPP activities until Akufo-Addo apologises for disrespecting you – Basintale appeals to Yagbonwura

Malik Basintale, a Deputy National Communication Officer of the opposition NDC has appealed to the overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I to ban all activities of the NPP on his land.

His suggestion comes a day after President Nana Akufo-Addo attended an event in Damango and asked that the overlord of Gonna rises to exchange pleasantries with him.

According to reports, Akufo-Addo was invited to the one year Anniversary of the Yagbonwura in Damongo which also had coincided with the annual congress of the Gonjaland Youth Association and the Guan Congress.

When the President arrived and was taken round to exchange pleasantries with the chiefs, his body guard signaled the Yagbonwura to rise and shake hands with Akufo-Addo.

The King refused despite a call from the Savanna Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Kalamonia.

The incident angered the youth and the subchiefs of Gonja who murmured among themselves.

However, reacting to the issue that has gone viral on social media on Power FM, Malik Basintale who is a Gonja man did not take it lightly.

The NDC spokesman condemned Akufo-Addo act and labeled him as arrogant.

He argued that every chief deserved a respect from the President despite their location in the country.

He wondered why the president will be drenched in self aggrandizement and be ordering chiefs in some areas of the country to rise from their skins or stools to exchange pleasantries with him.

To him, “a president like Akufo-Addo who has failed on his mandate has no authority to demand that chiefs rise up to shake hands with him.”

Basintale, further went on to appeal to the overlord of Dagbon to ban all party activities on Dagbon land to sent a strong signal that the people of Dagbon deserve to be treated with respect as any Ghanaian anywhere.

“Yagbonwura I appeal to you to ban all NPP activities on Yagbon Land until President Akufo-Addo apologises for disrespecting your throne,” Basintale said in an interview with Kwame Minkah.
