The CEO of the GTA, Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, revealed these plans during the opening of the 2026 Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival at Odweanoma Mountain.
“We are poised to promote domestic tourism and want to spread the paragliding festival to other areas,” Houadjeto stated.


“We are hoping to celebrate two paragliding festivals in Ghana every year: one in Kwahu and another in Adaklu.”
If the technical evaluations are successful, the GTA plans to launch the Adaklu site as early as 2027.

This expansion is expected to transform the local economy by attracting adrenaline seekers and international tourists, creating jobs within the hospitality and service sectors in the Adaklu enclave, and showcasing unique landscapes through low-impact aerial tourism.


The Adaklu expansion is part of a broader strategy which Mrs. Houadjeto has described as “360 Tourism.”

The initiative seeks to ensure that domestic tourism is promoted consistently every month of the year, rather than relying solely on seasonal peaks like Easter or Christmas.
To support this year-round vision, the GTA is set to introduce a specialized tour guide program targeting graduates.


These graduates, according to her, will be recruited and trained as official guides to tell the stories of Ghana’s diverse heritage sites.
In a significant move to boost mobility, the GTA plans to provide vehicles to these guides, enabling them to reach remote sites and facilitate tours more effectively.


By combining infrastructure development in Adaklu with youth-led storytelling, the GTA remains committed to making Ghana a leading destination for both domestic and international travelers

Nii Adjin-We family of Katamanso releases historical and customary manifesto

The Nii Adjin-We Family of Katamanso has issued a detailed manifesto outlining the historical and customary foundations of their family’s sovereignty, leadership succession, and challenges in recent years, particularly regarding political interference in chieftaincy matters.

The manifesto, signed by Seth Otu Okley (Salami), the Head of the Family, asserts that the Nii Adjin-We Family holds the Absolute Allodial Title to the lands of Katamanso, which were originally settled over 200 years ago by twin brothers, Akwetey and Akuetteh.

The document highlights the principle of jurisdictional autonomy, asserting the family’s exclusive decision-making authority in matters concerning Katamanso, separate from the Nungua Clan of their ancestry.

The family’s leadership succession follows the principle of generational seniority, with uncles of the senior generation holding precedence over sons or nephews. Seth Otu Okley (Salami) is identified as the legitimate Head of Family.

The manifesto also addresses historical challenges, including the 1995 usurpation of leadership by Abraham Otu Laryea, who self-appointed himself as Regent and later Chief, bypassing traditional protocols.

Despite political suppression and interference, the family’s rightful head, Joshua Kwei, was reinstated by the High Court in a landmark decision affirming the family’s customary protocols.

The document further condemns political interference during the period of 2015-2017, particularly the appointment of Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo as “Caretaker,” which violated Ghana’s 1992 Constitution separating political office from chieftaincy roles.

The family has formally declared that any installation of a new Chief, including the recent 2024 installation of Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, is null and void.

They vow not to recognize a new Chief until the rightful status of Nii Otu Akwetey IX is resolved through customary channels.

PIWAK Natural Health emerged champions of the 2025 Bermuda Games Reloaded, delivering an emphatic 6–2 victory over X-Mineral Water in the grand finale of the men’s football gala.

PIWAK advanced to the final after defeating Medi-Moses Clinic and Herbal Center in their opening match.

This year’s edition featured four competing institutions; XYZ Broadcasting Limited, Piwak Natural Health, Medi-Moses Clinic, and X-Mineral Water.

The annual event, hosted by XYZ Broadcasting Limited at the La McDan Town Park, is held each year on 5th December to mark Farmers’ Day.

The Bermuda Games aim to strengthen engagement between the station and its listeners, viewers, and corporate partners, while fostering healthy competition and community connection.

Chief Executive Officer of XYZ Broadcasting Limited, Mr. Bernie Anti, congratulated Piwak Natural Health for winning the 2025 tournament and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to serving the public with integrity.

He hinted at an expanded competition next year, with more institutions expected to participate.

In the third-place playoff, host team XYZ Broadcasting Limited narrowly lost 1–0 to Medi-Moses Clinic.

Beyond Perfectionism: Understanding the Reality of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

You may have heard someone say, “I’m so OCD,” in reference to their impeccably organized workspace or their need for cleanliness in the kitchen.

This casual interpretation of the term has led to a widespread misconception about what Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) truly entails.

It is not merely a quirky personality trait or an affinity for tidiness. OCD is a serious and often overwhelming mental health condition marked by a cycle of unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive actions or mental processes (compulsions).

Far from a minor habit, OCD is a recognized neuropsychiatric condition ranked by the World Health Organization as a leading cause of non-fatal illness worldwide, affecting an estimated 1-3% of the population.

Understanding the true nature of OCD is the first step toward breaking down the stigma and offering compassion to the millions who live with it.

What OCD Is Not: Debunking the Myth

Let’s be clear: liking things tidy is not OCD. The clinical reality of OCD is far more complex and distressing. The phrase “I’m so OCD” minimizes the significant struggle faced by those diagnosed with the disorder. OCD isn’t about wanting things to be neat; it’s about performing rituals to quiet overwhelming anxiety and fear. It’s a disorder of doubt and terror, not of perfectionism.

The OCD Cycle: Obsessions and Compulsions

OCD functions in a vicious, self-reinforcing cycle. The goal of compulsions is to reduce the intense anxiety caused by obsessions, but this relief is only temporary. The compulsive behavior ultimately reinforces the fear, ensuring the cycle continues.

Obsessions: The Unwanted Intruders

Obsessions are persistent, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that cause intense anxiety or disgust. They are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems. People with OCD usually recognize these thoughts as products of their own mind but feel powerless to control or stop them. Common themes include:

  • Contamination: Fear of germs, dirt, or chemicals harming oneself or others.
  • Harm: Intrusive thoughts of harming oneself or others, often violently.
  • Symmetry and Order: An intense need for things to be arranged “just right.”
  • Unwanted Sexual or Religious Thoughts: Taboo or blasphemous thoughts that are deeply upsetting to the individual.

Compulsions: The Temporary Fix

Compulsions are repetitive behaviors or mental acts a person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession. The behaviors are aimed at preventing a feared event or reducing distress, but they are not realistically connected to the event they are meant to neutralize. Examples include:

  • Washing and Cleaning: Excessive hand-washing, showering, or cleaning of household items.
  • Checking: Repeatedly checking doors, locks, stoves, or appliances to prevent a feared disaster.
  • Counting: Counting to a specific number, or performing actions a certain number of times.
  • Mental Compulsions: Silently praying, repeating words, or mentally reviewing events to ensure no harm was done.

What Causes OCD?

The exact cause of OCD is not fully understood, but research points to a combination of factors:

  • Biology: Brain imaging studies have shown differences in the frontal cortex and subcortical structures of the brain, as well as an imbalance of neurotransmitters, particularly serotonin.
  • Genetics: OCD can run in families, suggesting a genetic component, though no single “OCD gene” has been identified.
  • Environment: Traumatic events, chronic stress, or learned behaviors can contribute to triggering OCD in individuals with a predisposition.

There Is Hope: Effective Treatments for OCD

An OCD diagnosis is not a life sentence of anxiety. Highly effective treatments can help individuals manage their symptoms and reclaim their lives. Individuals who fulfill the criteria for OCD should be evaluated based on their belief in the validity of their obsessive thoughts.Varying levels of poor insight are present in 14 to 31% of individuals with OCD and are linked to less favorable treatment results.

  1. Therapy: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) ERP is the gold standard psychotherapy for OCD. It involves: Exposure: Gradually and systematically confronting the thoughts, images, and situations that trigger obsessions and anxiety.
  • Response Prevention: Voluntarily choosing not to engage in the compulsive behavior that would normally ease the anxiety. Through ERP, the brain learns that the feared outcome does not occur, and the anxiety naturally decreases over time.
  1. Medication Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), a type of antidepressant, are commonly prescribed to help reduce the symptoms of OCD by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Medication is often most effective when combined with ERP therapy.
  2. Lifestyle and Support While not a cure, managing stress through mindfulness, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and joining a support group can provide crucial support alongside formal treatment.

How to Support Someone with OCD

If a loved one has OCD, your support can make a world of difference.

  • Educate Yourself: Understanding the disorder is the first step.
  • Be Compassionate, Not Accommodating: Show empathy for their anxiety, but avoid participating in their rituals (e.g., assuring them they didn’t cause harm or helping them check something). Accommodation reinforces the OCD cycle.
  • Encourage Treatment: Gently encourage them to seek help from a therapist specializing in ERP.
  • Separate the Person from the Disorder: Remember that the obsessions are not true desires, and the compulsions are symptoms of an illness. Criticizing them for their behavior is rarely helpful.

A Path Forward

 OCD is a difficult condition, but it is also very treatable. By dispelling misconceptions with knowledge, we can foster a more understanding environment for those who are suffering quietly. If you resonate with these statements, remember that you are not alone, you are not “crazy,” and, most importantly, support is available. Recovery isn’t about getting rid of all anxiety, but rather about learning to handle it so that you, instead of OCD, have control over your life. It’s also important to understand that not everyone with OCD recognizes their thoughts as irrational. This is known as ‘poor insight.’ For some, the obsessive fears feel completely real and terrifying, which can make seeking treatment harder. This is a symptom of the disorder itself, not a character flaw.

Negative prophecy creates vacuum for attack – Bishop Elvis Kessey

The Senior Pastor of Victory Bible Church International, Victory Cathedral, Bishop Dr Elvis Kessey has revealed that negative prophecies create vacuum for the enemy to attack.

According to Bishop Kessey, who is also a Prophet, any prophecy whether from God or not has the tendency to happen.

“Once a prophecy is uttered, there is a probability of it to manifest whether it is from God or not and therefore Prophets must be careful how they reveal utterances in public” he explained.

He was speaking on Adinkra Radio New York with Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman in response to a statement by Presidential Envoy for the Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations Office, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on a new directive requiring religious leaders to submit prophecies of national significance for official review.

In a letter issued on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the office urged clergy across the country to formally present any prophecy or spiritual insight relating to high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability to its office for urgent assessment.

This comes in the wake of viral videos on social media following the August 6 helicopter crash that killed eight people, including two cabinet ministers.

In the videos, some self-proclaimed men of God claimed they had foreseen the crash in visions and issued warnings that were ignored.

Bishop Kessey welcomed the idea from the Presidency and added that it is not every prophecy that is meant for public consumption.

“Prophecies concerning high profile people must be handled with wisdom as Nathan did in the Bible when there was a direct message to King David” he explained.

He revealed further that Angels are assigned task if the prophecy is from God and the same way demons and principalities follow up on any negative message from the devil.

Nsuomnam restaurant launches Sunday buffet on Mother’s Day

Nsuomnam, a seafood and fish restaurant, launched its Sunday buffet today, May 11, 2025, in celebration of Mother’s Day.

According to the General Manager, Lamine Sylla, this is the first time the restaurant is offering a buffet service. Surrounded by women in his professional life, he chose to honor mothers in a special way.

The event featured free cocktails for the ladies and a variety of Pan-African and European meals. The Pan-African dishes included finger-licking specialties from Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Ghana.

The General Manager of Nsuomnam Seafood and Fish Restaurant, Lamine Sylla, has clarified that the restaurant’s food is not expensive but rather exclusive.

According to Mr. Sylla, the perception circulating in town that Nsuomnam is a high-end restaurant only for the elite is completely false.

“Our food is exclusive, not expensive. We source all our ingredients locally and do not rely on imports. This is part of our commitment to supporting the local economy by purchasing only Ghanaian-made products,” he stated.

 

He further explained, “There are several restaurants that charge more than we do, but people only realize this after dining with us. Those restaurants are expensive because they import ingredients. At Nsuomnam, you can enjoy brunch for just 400 cedis.”

Speaking at a press briefing today, 29th April 2025, Mr. Sylla encouraged Ghanaians to support local businesses by choosing Made-in-Ghana food.

2025 Easter celebration: Ogbenze Foundation Feeds Multitude at Accra

Ogbenze Foundation (OF) has fed and spread the Love of God to thousands of individuals especially street children in Accra, the capital of Ghana

About 1,000 people benefited from the act of benevolence which is said to have cost about GH¢ 50,000 and includes, the free provision food, drinks and many more.

Speaking to XYZ News’s Akora Kofi Darko, at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ogbenze Foundation Samuel Hassan Crabbe said, the purpose of this kind gesture is to show compassion to all.

According to him, the time has come for everyone to give to the society as a way of supporting in building of the nation together.

“Happy Easter to everyone. We are here to show great care. We are here to show that, God loves us all. We are here to put a smile on people’s faces. We are here to feed those on the streets of Accra who were wondering where they’ll get food to eat today, hence our mission here. We are here to see to it that people eat good food especially those on the streets of Accra” he said.

Samuel Hassan Crabb who said he was once a ‘’street boy’’ also added that the Ogbeze Foundation, an NGO he founded, will continue to support the less privilege and the vulnerable in the streets of Accra and beyond.

The NGO also organizes donation to widows as part of its commitment to supporting the less privileged on March 6th, 2025.

The feeding of thousands of street kids, including men and women in the month of April of every year under the theme “Feed the Street.”

He took the opportunity to call on philanthropists and all well-wishers to always do their best in supporting each other.

“I was led by the scripture of God to choose the streets such as Adabraka, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Zongo junction, Kaneshie first Light, Korle-Bu Traffic Light and other areas for such a wonderful initiative,’’ he concluded.

Hajia Police urges sex workers to stop the trade in holy month

As the month of holiness and purity unfolds, award-winning Afro-Islamic musician and law enforcement officer Superintendent Hajia Police has made a heartfelt plea to sex workers, urging them to abandon their trade and seek forgiveness from Allah.

“In this sacred time, we seek guidance, protection, love, and above all, Allah’s abundant grace,” she stated.

Hajia Police emphasized the importance of modesty and righteousness, calling on individuals involved in prostitution and sex trafficking to reconsider their actions for the greater good of society.

She believes that promoting morality and ethical values will contribute to nation-building and social harmony.

Beyond advocacy, Hajia Police is actively championing the “Stop Sex Trafficking” initiative, a campaign aimed at eradicating sex trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.

She has called on government agencies, civil society, and the public to support this movement to ensure a safer and more dignified future for all.

With a strong presence in both the security and entertainment industries, Hajia Police continues to use her platform to promote human rights and social responsibility.
