At the U.S.–Africa Critical Minerals Forum in Washington, D.C., the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to responsible, ethical and sustainable mining.
Speaking on October 15, 2025, he emphasized that under President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda,” Ghana seeks to build a transparent natural resources sector that benefits both the environment and the people.
Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible and transparent mining, with the Minister emphasizing that the country seeks to be a trusted partner in global clean energy supply chains, not merely a source of raw materials.
He said reforms are underway to tackle illegal mining, protect forests and water bodies, and strengthen governance so local communities benefit from investments.
The announcement was made at the U.S.–Africa Critical Minerals Forum hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where Ghana’s “Resetting Agenda” was highlighted as the framework for these reforms.
The discussions come as global interest in critical minerals such as lithium and cobalt grows, underscoring Ghana’s resolve to pursue sustainability and accountability in the sector.
