INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY STATEMENT BY MRS LORDINA DRAMANI MAHAMA

Today, as we celebrate ourselves as women, let us remember the importance of supporting and uplifting one another.

We must empower and celebrate each other and stand together in solidarity. Our responsibilities include ensuring every woman and girl feels valued in all aspects of society.

I urge all of us to continue to invest in women, as it is not only a moral imperative but also an economic one. When women are allowed to reach their full potential, everyone benefits.

Let us challenge stereotypes and create a world where everyone is valued and respected.

On this 2024 International Women’s Day, I congratulate my dear husband, John Dramani Mahama, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the bold decision to select a woman, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as Running Mate.

And congratulations, Naana, for yet another opportunity to break the glass ceiling.

Through the Lordina Foundation, I will continue to do my best to support needy children, orphans, women, and health facilities nationwide.

I am happy to note that the newly
constructed Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward at the Bole District Hospital has contributed to the zero maternal mortality rate recorded in 2023.

Together, we can inspire inclusion and build a world where all women can grow to their fullest potential.

Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama
Former First Lady & President, Lordina Foundation.
