KOICA Reaffirms Commitment to Ghana School Feeding Programme, Pledges Support to Address Challenges.

The Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has reaffirmed the Korean government’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s School Feeding Programme following an assessment visit to Kwabenya Atomic M/A Basic Schools 3 and 4.

Speaking after touring the school and interacting with pupils and school authorities, the KOICA Country Director described the programme as an important investment in Ghana’s future, noting that providing nutritious meals to children contributes significantly to their growth, education and national development.

He expressed satisfaction with what he observed during the visit, saying it was encouraging to see pupils benefiting from quality breakfast and lunch through the programme.

The KOICA Country Director revealed that discussions with the school’s headteacher highlighted a number of operational challenges, particularly inadequate funding. He assured stakeholders KOICA would carefully review the concerns and work closely with the World Food Programme (WFP) and other partners to identify practical solutions to improve programme implementation.

He also commended the introduction of the School Connect digital application, describing it as an innovative and advanced system for collecting programme data. According to him, the technology has enhanced information gathering and monitoring, providing a strong foundation for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the School Feeding Programme.

He reiterated KOICA’s commitment, together with the Government of the Republic of Korea, to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen school feeding and improve the welfare and education of Ghanaian children.
