Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama is advocating a collective effort towards the wellbeing of all Ghanaians.
For him, those in leadership especially must strive to work hard to guarantee a society where every citizen feels secure and valued.
John Mahama explains that the peace in the country currently is very fragile and should not be tampered with.
“Peace is not merely the absence of conflict. It is the presence of justice, fairness, and mutual respect”
John Mahama who suspended his campaign on Sunday to join the Ghana Pentecostal & Charismatic Council, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, and the National Association of Charismatic Christian Churches at the launch of a National Peace Campaign in Accra, indicated that all well-meaning Ghanaians should not forget that true peace cannot exist without justice.
He emphasized that all hands must be on deck towards a proactive attitude towards peace building adding that proactiveness in ensuring peace would have prevented the Bawku crisis.
“Had we been proactive in addressing the tensions in our midst, perhaps we would not have faced tragedies such as those in Bawku, where lives are being lost and families are being shattered” he said.
He maintained that the NDC is committed to Peace before, during and after the election.
“On behalf of the National Democratic Congress, I solemnly commit to upholding the values of dialogue, respect, and justice for all” he assured.
“We pledge to be the voice of the voiceless and to stand alongside every Ghanaian committed to peace—a peace grounded in justice” he intimated
