Mali game in Accra will be easier than Chad clash – Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says Ghana will be more comfortable playing Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium tonight than they were in their frustrating 1-1 draw against Chad last Thursday.

Ghana dropped points in N’Djamena after Jordan Ayew’s opener was cancelled late by Celestine Ecua, a result that disappointed fans and tightened the race in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“Everybody was very disappointed after the draw in Chad. The expectation was high for us to win,” Addo admitted at his pre-match briefing. “We analysed the game very well and hoped to learn from it. I’m very sure we will show another phase in Accra.”

The coach believes home advantage will be key, with the crowd expected to lift the players’ performance.

“It’s easier to play at home with our spectators supporting us, pushing the last percentages out of the players,” he said. “I expect different phases of the players. I hope we learned from the mistakes against Chad.

The good thing is that it’s still in our own hands.”

With Comoros defeating the Central African Republic to close the gap at the top of the table, Ghana must beat Mali to protect their lead in Group I.

Kick-off is at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
