Women entrepreneurs gathered at the Stanbic Business Incubator in Accra for practical training designed to strengthen their digital skills and business capabilities as part of Meraki Channels‘ free six-month Digital Competency and Capacity Building Programme.
The programme, organised by Meraki Channels in partnership with Stanbic Bank, is providing women entrepreneurs and small business owners with practical training in areas including digital marketing, content creation, social media marketing, AI for business and other digital tools that can support business growth. XYZ Broadcasting has joined the initiative as its media partner, documenting the training sessions and helping amplify the programme’s focus on digital literacy, entrepreneurship and skills development.
For XYZ Broadcasting, supporting the initiative reflects our interest in programmes that create practical opportunities for people to develop skills and participate more meaningfully in Ghana’s evolving digital economy. We believe that improving digital competency among women entrepreneurs can contribute to stronger businesses, greater visibility and a more digitally capable SME ecosystem.
The first two training sessions, held in June and July, brought women entrepreneurs together for hands-on learning and practical guidance they could apply to their businesses.
The programme also responds to a challenge Meraki Channels has experienced through its work with businesses: the gap between the quality of a business and how that business presents itself online.
During the training, we spoke with participants about their experiences and interviewed Naa Mawufemor, Founder and Creative Lead at Meraki Channels, about the thinking behind the initiative.
Speaking about what inspired the initiative, Naa Mawufemor said:
“We have experienced first-hand what it is like to see businesses with great products and services, yet their online presence does not reflect that same quality. We wanted to find a practical way to help more entrepreneurs bridge that gap and keep pace with the digital evolution.”
Participants also shared how the training has influenced the way they think about their businesses, particularly in relation to digital visibility, content creation, marketing and the use of technology.
The Digital Competency and Capacity Building Programme continues with its next training session on Friday, August 28, 2026, as the six-month series progresses in Accra.
The programme is expected to extend beyond Accra, with a similar series planned for Kumasi before the end of 2026 and the possibility of reaching other regions in subsequent years.
