Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang enstooled in Tema

The Chiefs and Queen Mothers of Sakumono have bestowed the title of Development Queen Mother upon the Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. Her new title is Naa Amarkie Kekleke Yoo I. This honor was given in appreciation of her leadership as a distinguished academician turned politician, and for her contributions to the development of women and youth in general.

The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, August 20, during the NDC Running Mate’s campaign tour of constituencies in the Greater Accra region, was attended by traditional leaders, key members of her campaign team, party supporters, and community members who gathered at the durbar grounds.

In her acceptance speech, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang expressed her gratitude to the Chiefs and the people of Sakumono for the honor. “This recognition is not just a personal accolade; it is a call to action,” she said.

She pledged to work diligently and initiate developments that would drive economic growth in Sakumono and Ghana as a whole.

Naa Amarkie Kekleke Yoo I, as she is now referred to, also urged the Chiefs and people of Sakumono to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama, whom she described as a trustworthy leader. She encouraged them to support NDC Parliamentary candidates to ensure the successful implementation of policy proposals after the December 7, 2024 elections.
