Agric Minister presents 40,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers across Ghana

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has handed over 40,000 bags of fertilizer for distribution to farmers across the country through various regional ministers and Members of Parliament.

The fertilizers were donated to Ghana by the Kingdom of Morocco through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the presentation, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and boosting food production.

“The Ministry is playing its part. We kept the items for a few days, but today we want everything to leave the office, through the MPs and regional ministers straight to the farmers,” he stated. “At the end of the day, we should be able to increase food production in the country.”

He assured that the fertilizers would be delivered directly to the deserving farmers without delay.

The fertilizer donation has been regionally allocated as follows: the Volta Region will receive 20,000 bags, the Oti Region 10,000 bags, and peasant farmers across various areas will benefit from 5,000 bags.

Additionally, constituencies such as Ayawaso West Wuogon, Afram Plains South, and Afram Plains North have each been allotted 1,000 bags.

Members of Parliament and regional ministers who received the fertilizer consignment expressed appreciation for the initiative.

They affirmed that the timely intervention would enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen national food security.
