President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in the first batch of Ghana’s newly appointed envoys, charging them to advance the nation’s interests and project a positive image abroad.
The ceremony, held at the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday, September 4, 2025, forms part of government’s renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties through economic diplomacy.
Among the new appointments are former Information Minister Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, named High Commissioner to London, Mr. Victor Emmanuel Smith, to Washington D.C, Ms. Mavis Ama Frimpong, to Paris, and Mr. Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, to Abuja.
Others include Dr. Koma-Steem Jehu Appiah (Moscow), Kojo Bonsu (Beijing), Alhaji Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali (Abu Dhabi), Professor Ohene Adjei (Berlin), and Alhaji Abdul Nasiru-Deen (Ankara).
Also appointed were Dr. Margaret Miewien Chebere (Copenhagen), Mr. Labik Joseph Yaani (Malabo), Nii Amasah Namoale (Brasilia), Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso (New Delhi), Ambassador Samuel Yao Kumah (New York), Mr. Godwin Baletum Amonzem (Monrovia), and protocol experts Mr. Aikins Abrokwa and Mr. Gustav Kwaku Sefe Dovlo. Mrs. Patience Kokui Gameli-Kwame was named Ambassador-at-Large.
President Mahama reminded the diplomats that their postings were “not merely symbolic but a call to service.”
He urged them to forge partnerships, promote trade and investment, and seek opportunities abroad that will deliver tangible benefits to Ghanaians at home.
