Prudential Bank has launched a prostate cancer awareness and screening campaign as part of efforts to promote early detection and improve men’s health in Ghana.
The exercise, which aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), was held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Presbyterian Church, Ebenezer Congregation, Abossey Okai, Accra.
About 120 men above 40 years took part in the screening, which forms part of the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Speaking to the media, Elvis Ato Dan-Sekyi, Area Manager for Prudential Bank’s Accra-West Cluster, said the campaign targets over 500 men throughout September.
“We want to make healthcare more accessible and convenient for men in the community. That’s why we chose Abossey Okai’s Vehicle Spare Parts Hub, where there is a high concentration of men,” he explained.
The exercise will be replicated in Kumasi and Tamale later this month, following the success of a similar initiative in 2024.
Beyond screening, the campaign includes educational sessions and sponsorships aimed at deepening understanding of prostate cancer and encouraging proactive health practices.
Prostate cancer remains a major health concern globally, with the World Health Organisation (WHO) reporting more than 1.4 million new cases annually.
In Ghana, most cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, underscoring the urgent need for awareness and early detection.
