Morocco international defender Achraf Hakimi to stand trial for rape allegations.

Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco international defender Achraf Hakimi has been ordered to stand trial for rape allegations dating back to February 2023.

A French judge in Nanterre has decided to send the case to trial following a preliminary investigation and recommendations from prosecutors. The accusation stems from a complaint by a then 24 year old woman who alleged that Hakimi raped her at his home in a Paris suburb after they met via social media.

Hakimi, 27, strongly denies the allegations and has described them as false. In a statement posted on X on February 24, 2026, he wrote: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I contest it and everything proves that it is false. This is as unfair to the innocent as it is to sincere victims. I await this trial calmly, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”

His lawyer, Fanny Colin, confirmed the order and stated that an appeal against the decision is planned. No trial date has been set yet.

The plaintiff’s lawyer expressed relief at the development, stating it aligns with the evidence in the file.

This is a developing legal matter, and Hakimi remains presumed innocent until proven otherwise in court.
