The Supreme Court has dismissed the injunction application filed by the MP for Ofoase Ayeribi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, to stay proceedings until the final determination of a case challenging the constitutionality of warrants issued by the Chief Justice to some High Court judges to conduct criminal trials during the legal vacation.
The Court held that the applicant had failed to establish a sufficiently strong case to warrant the grant of an injunction against the exercise of Chief Justice Baffoe Bonnie his constitutional and administrative powers.
The court has dismissed our injunction application, but in the ruling some very interesting pronouncements have been made,” he said.
“For the first time, the courts have admitted that some cases have been treated differently. Those are the words of the judge. They have been treated differently and expeditiously. Why? He doesn’t say so.”
Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the court nevertheless concluded that the differential treatment did not amount to a violation of the constitutional provisions raised in his case.
