Business Mogul and Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital Equity Fund, Dr Sir Sam Jonah, will officially launch the 75th Anniversary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
According to a press release signed by General Secretary of the association, Kofi Yeboah, the brief ceremony shall take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra at 1pm.
Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who is currently the Caretaker Information Minister will be the Special Guest of Honour with Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng, a former Chairman of the National Media Commission as Chairman for the occasion.
Sam Jonah KBE, OSG, who is also the Chancellor of University of Cape Coast (UCC) will deliver the Keynote Address to set the tone for the 75th Anniversary celebration, which is on the theme: “75 years of excellence in journalism: Past, present and the future”.
He will also unveil the 75th Anniversary Logo at the ceremony.
GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, will speak on the theme for the anniversary to rally members around the flag of the Association.
Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Planning Committee, Godwin Avenorgbo, is billed to give an outline of activities planned for the anniversary, will be undertaken in the regions to give it a national character.
This will be climaxed at the 28th GJA Media Awards to be held in September 2024.
The programme will bring together, Senior Editors, Public Relations, media practitioners and partners, heads of media institutions, as well as heads and students of journalism/communication training institutions.
