NPP supporters gathered at EOCO headquarters in Accra on Monday, demanding the immediate release of party communicator Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered outside the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) headquarters in Accra on Monday, July 13, demanding the immediate release of party communications member Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

Aboagye, who also served as spokesperson for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was arrested on Saturday at Kotoka International Airport by EOCO officers with assistance from the Ghana Immigration Service.

The NPP claims the reasons for the arrest remain unclear, and Aboagye has been denied access to his lawyers. The party has described the detention as lacking transparency and has called on authorities to respect his legal rights.

NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua first announced the arrest in a Facebook post on Sunday, urging Aboagye’s immediate release. The protest has heightened tensions between the opposition and state investigative agencies, with supporters demanding answers and solidarity for the detained official.
