President John Dramani Mahama this morning paid a one day working visit to Mali.
It forms part of a three-nation tour which will also take him to Niamey, Niger and neighbouring Burkina Faso in line with efforts to improve revive mutual relations between Sahelian States and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)
He was warmly received at Modibo Keita Airport by Mali’s Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta.
ECOWAS formally announced the exit of the three nations -Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali on January 29, 2025.
It is however believe that the three nations who describe ECOWAS sanctions as inhumane after they experienced a coup and declined ECOWAS directive to return to constitutional rule will see blessings in the visit by President John Mahama yo return to ECOWAS.
President Mahama’s discussions with Mali’s Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta. focused on strengthening regional cooperation, security, and economic ties amid the shifting geopolitical landscape in West Africa.
