Independence Day Celebration: President Mahama brings significant change to state governance

As Ghana marks its 68th Independence day today themed “Year of Freedom Unity and Progress”, it is evident that the new government, led by H.E. John Mahama and the NDC, is set to bring transformative change to the nation’s economy and overall governance.

Unlike previous years, the Independence Day celebration this year took a different approach. Gone were the traditional displays of armored vehicles and large-scale military parades. One might ask why. The answer lies in the president’s commitment to cutting down expenses, as emphasized in his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

A notable shift was the participation of schoolchildren who, instead of the customary marching under the scorching sun, performed a motivational song in a local dialect. Their message encouraged national unity and collective effort toward development—a refreshing departure from past celebrations.

This new approach signals President Mahama’s dedication to improving the nation, prioritizing efficiency over extravagance. The Independence Day celebration is not only beautiful but also purposeful, aligning with the government’s vision for progress.

As we look ahead, we hope this positive transformation continues under the leadership of H.E. John Mahama.

Congratulations to Ghana on 68 years of freedom! May God bless our president, and may God bless Ghana.
